Mississippi CIT Association
Mississippi CIT Association is a non-profit organization comprised of law enforcement, corrections, the mental health community, and advocacy groups to provide standardized training, support, and education in responding to those affected by mental illness and/or those who are experiencing a mental health crisis.
Goals:
Increase the use of standardized training, support, and education in responding to those living
with, affected by, or experiencing mental health disorder, substance use disorder, and co-
occurring disorder.
Build on strong partnerships between law enforcement, mental health and substance abuse
provider agencies, advocacy groups, health care providers, and individuals and families
affected by mental illness.
Bring together members of law enforcement, corrections, advocacy groups, and the mental
health community by hosting social and charity events promote efficiency in local government
by encouraging the employment of city/county managers and administrators professionally
trained for the technical job of administration.
Seek to assist law enforcement agencies and Community Mental Health Centers (CMHCs)
who wish to build a CIT program from the ground up by providing standardized guidelines and
training for crisis intervention.
